Many foreign people think that Americans usually eat hamburgers. But the truth is that many people in the US have become vegetarians, who eat little or no meat. Most Americans, however, like many different kinds of food. They especially like exotic foods and restaurants that serve French, Arabic, Mexican, Japanese, Chinese and African cuisine is among their favorites.

Americans also love to cook. And they don't always make simple things. Some of them are real gourmets, and they enjoy preparing fine meals. They spend thousands of dollars each year on cook-books and cooking utensils to use in their kitchens. Like people in many countries, people in US love to entertain, so they often invite people to dinner.

When guests arrive, they find a table beautifully gets with candles and fine china, because a meal is more appetizing when it is served in pleasant surroundings. When guests sit down to eat, they eat heartily, and when it is time to clear the table, they feel good. For many Americans, food that is cooked at home is most scrumptious of all.

Многие иностранцы думают что американцы обычно едят гамбургеры. Но правда в том, что многие люди в США стали вегетарианцами, которые мало или совсем не едят мясо. Однако большинство американцев любят много разных видов еды. Они особенно любят экзотические блюда и рестораны, в которых подают блюда французской, арабской, мексиканской, японской, китайской и африканской кухни.

Американцы тоже любят готовить. И они не всегда делают простые вещи. Некоторые из них настоящие гурманы, и им нравится готовить вкусные блюда. Они тратят тысячи долларов каждый год на поваренные книги и кухонную утварь для использования на своих кухнях. Как и люди во многих странах, люди в США любят развлекаться, поэтому они часто приглашают людей на обед.

Когда гости приходят, они обнаруживают, что стол прекрасно сервируется со свечами и изысканным фарфором, потому что еда подается более аппетитно, когда ее подают в приятной обстановке. Когда гости садятся, они едят от души, а когда приходит время убирать со стола, они чувствуют себя хорошо. Для многих американцев еда, которую готовят дома, самая вкусная из всех.
