Lance’s new house Nick and Lance are having lunch together at one of the most popular cafeterias in the city. Nonetheless, this one is a special lunch because it’s Nick’s farewell, who’s going to go on a trip for two months in a city that’s at 80 km from there. Two months sound like very little time, but for these two friends, this sounds like way too much, since they usually spend a great part of their days together sharing adventures and creating new stories in their lives. At the station and only having the last couple of minutes before the train departs to its destination, Lance tells Nick “These will be two difficult months. I can’t even imagine how it will be to be for such a long time doing crazy stuff without my pal, but I’m sure that we will have a lot to tell each other when you’re back.” A half smile takes shape in Nick’s face, answering “You’re right, it will be hard for me as well. So let’s do the best we can for having interesting stories to tell when we see each other again!” “Deal! Come here bro. Enjoy your trip to its fullest!” says Lance while hugging to say goodbye.  Nick gets into the train and makes his last goodbye gesture to Lance from the window of his seat. The train leaves and Lance, with a calm face, turns around and starts walking slowly to his home. While he’s walking the pathways that take him to his sweet home, his mind is entertained by thinking in what is it that he will do when he gets home. “Today is a movie nigh, definitely a movie night. I think I’ll order a special pizza that comes with the widest possible variety of cheese, that also has a lot of vegetables, loads of chilli, and to drive the thirst away, I will make my favourite drink with the last pineapples and the melon I still have. Oh yeah, this will be an amazing night!” Being already pretty close of arriving to his place, Lance quickens his step for the eagerness of starting his movie night. He has in mind already exactly how much time it will take him to order a pizza and have it at the step of his door when his drink is ready and his room is perfectly tied up for enjoying the movie. But then something seems to be out of place. Lance has stopped. What might it be? “MY HOUSE! But why!? How is it possible that this tree that is much older than my grandma, and that looked very tight and strong, has fallen precisely today on the roof of my house!? A bit more and it would have destroyed my garage! Such a bad luck!” After 20 minutes of venting out his anger caused by this unexpected problem, Lance gets to calm down and starts to analyse the situation. “What a huge problem... This is complicated... I can't take care of everything right now, but it's good news that my garage is still standing. At least it will do as a house meanwhile. Now, thinking of what I have to do, first I will have to get rid of that tree in the morning, then I will think of a more thorough plan of what to do with everything else.” And this way, with a bit more of an optimistic view of things, Lance, tired of his day of farewells and fallen trees, he goes to sleep in his garage. The next morning, he calls the fire brigade for them to come to cut the tree into pieces and take it away from there. Once the tree is out of the thing, Lance thinks “Now I have to make my house look as a house once again. What’s the most important thing to do? Well, first I will clean the rubble and take down the damaged parts. Then I have to see which walls need reinforcement and which need to be done from scratch. Afterwards I will build what will be the structure of the house on top of the foundations of my old house. I will then take care of the walls, roof and windows needed to not die of suffocation. Once all of that is ready, I will decorate in the best possible way the interior and at last I will celebrate for the finished project. “Let’s get to work!” Lance does every day a bit of the task that he need to get done, always taking short breaks throughout the day to avoid fatigue and not being able to work anymore. The first days he spends cleaning the debris and taking notes for the next stages. Once he is done with his cleaning, he goes back to the notes he took and starts making over the structure of the house based on the new conditions. This took him little time compared to the hardest stage being this the construction of the walls, roof and windows, which took him more than a month. Without realizing it, Lance was already at the stage of decorating, where he had lots of fun painting and creating an incredible atmosphere for his new lair.  The makeover process comes to its end and Lance feels very glad when he puts the last piece of furniture in his respective position. “That’s all. How good is it that I’m done” says Lance. “Everything seemed to be too complicated at the beginning, but working little by little in the most important made everything become much easier, and I even had fun doing it.” Just after finishing this thought, someone knocks on the door. Lance opens. It’s Nick. “My guy, how good is it to see that you’re back! How was your trip?” “It was very good” Nick answers. “I was working a lot in cultural workshops for most of the time, I walked at some interesting places and made a lot of new friends. There wasn’t much madness to be honest. And you, how did it go for you? I see that your house is a bit different.” “Oh, mate,” Lance says, “please take a sit, because the story of what happened to me will leave you more than baffled...” Moral: An immense and terrifying problem becomes small and innocuous if you break it down to its most fundamental parts. Новый Дом Лэнса Ник и Лэнс завтракали вместе в одном из самых популярных заведений в городе. Тем не менее, именно этот завтрак был особенным, так как Нику предстояло уезжать на 2 месяца в другой город, находящийся в 80 км от сюда. Два месяца кажутся не таким уж большим сроком, однако для таких друзей, которые проводят большую часть своего времени вместе и часто попадают в те или иные истории, это звучит как целая вечность. Уже на станции, перед самым отбытием поезда, Лэнс сказал Нику: «Это будут невыносимые два месяца. Мне даже представить трудно, как я буду вытворять все то безумие без моего лучшего друга. Однако есть и хорошая сторона – нам будет чем поделиться друг с другом, когда ты вернешься». Полу улыбаясь, Ник ответил: «Ты прав, мне тоже будет нелегко. Так давай же сделаем все возможное, чтобы те истории, которые мы будем рассказывать друг другу по возвращении, были интересными!». «Договорились! Иди сюда, друг. Хорошей поездки!» - сказал Лэнс, обнимая Ника на прощание. Ник запрыгнул в поезд и помахал Лэнсу со своего места. Поезд тронулся, и Лэнс спокойно побрел домой. Идя по дороге к его милому дому, его голова была забита разными развлекательными вариантами того, чтоб он будет делать, когда придет домой. «Сегодня будет ночь фильмов, определенно. Думаю, что закажу особенную пиццу, в которой будет максимальное число всевозможных сыров, овощей, тонны чили и, чтобы утолить жажду, я приготовлю свой любимый напиток из последних, имеющихся у меня дома, ананасов и дыни. Вечер пройдет как надо!» Подходя к дому, Лэнс ускорился, подталкиваемый желанием начать свою кино-ночь. Он уже распланировал, сколько времени ему понадобится, чтобы заказать пиццу и получить ее под своей дверью; в то же время напиток уже будет готов, а комната будет в идеальном для просмотра фильмов состоянии. Но что-то пошло не так. Лэнс остановился. Что же не так? «МОЙ ДОМ! Но почему?! Как это возможно, что дерево, которое старше моей бабушки и выглядит надежным и сильным, именно сегодня упало точно на мою крышу!? Еще немного и оно уничтожило бы и мой гараж! Вот неудача!»  Через 20 минут причитаний и ругательств Лэнс утихомирился и стал анализировать произошедшее. «Вот это проблема… Как не вовремя… Сейчас у меня нет времени на это все, хорошо хоть, что мой гараж все еще на месте. Пока я могу использовать его в качестве жилища. Так, теперь надо думать, как быть; для начала я избавлюсь от дерева с утра, затем подумаю, что делать дальше». Так, немного смирившись с произошедшим, Лэнс пошел спать к себе в гараж. Следующим утром он позвонил пожарной бригаде, чтобы те распилили дерево и увезли его подальше от дома Лэнса. Когда дерево уже не мешало, Лэнс подумал: «Теперь я должен сделать эту конструкцию снова похожей на мой дом. Что же самое главное? Так, для начала я уберу строительный мусор и снесу обрушившиеся останки здания. Затем я посмотрю, какие из стен нужно просто подлатать, а какие строить заново. После я построю то, что будет служить основой дома и стоять на фундаменте старого здания. Затем я позабочусь о стенах, крыше и окнах, нужных для циркуляции воздуха в помещении. Как только все это будет готово, я обустрою дом внутри настолько красиво, насколько это возможно. Окончание проекта я обязательно отмечу. Приступим же к работе!»  Каждый день Лэнс выполнял намеченную работу, устраивая себе короткие перерывы, чтобы не упасть от усталости и не быть в силах работать дальше. Первые дни он убирал обломки и делал заметки о дальнейших шагах. Как только он убирал мусор, он возвращался к сделанным записям и переделывал структуру дома в соответствии с теми условиями, которые были теперь. Это заняло у него не столько времени, сколько самая трудная часть – возведение стен, крыши и окон, длившаяся больше месяца. Сам того не осознавая, Лэнс приближался к стадии декорирования, где он мог дать волю своей фантазии и создать необычайную атмосферу в своей берлоге. Процесс преображения дома подходил к концу, и Лэнс был этим очень доволен. «Наконец-то все, как же хорошо, что я все закончил», сказал Лэнс. «Все казалось таким сложным вначале, но если работать по чуть-чуть над самым главным, то все выходит гораздо легче, это было даже весело». Как только он подумал это, в дверь кто-то постучался. Лэнс открыл. Это был Ник. «Мой друг, как приятно видеть, что ты вернулся! Как прошло твое путешествие?» «Неплохо», ответил Ник. «Я много работал в культурной мастерской, посещал некоторые интересные места и завел много новых знакомств. Если честно, ничего безумного не происходило. А ты как? Как провел эти два месяца? Похоже, твой дом немного изменился.» «Ох, друг», сказал Лэнс, «присядь, пожалуйста, ведь то, что произошло со мной, не просто шокирует тебя…» Мораль: Огромная и пугающая проблема становится незначительной и безобидной, если разобрать ее на самые основные части.
