Getting interested in intercultural communication The Cultural Map of Europe: Write cultural associations for every country you know on the map of Europe. Compare your map with your partner’s. Which similarities and differences do you have? Which cultural association of your partner do you like best? Which one do you find the most unusual? Ask your partner if he thinks the same. Let him explain why he thinks so. Answer your partner’s questions about your cultural associations. National characteristics: 1. Take turns explaining the meaning of the national characteristics in your own words in English. 3. Write the list of national characteristics for 8 nationalities (Germans, British, Italians, Finns, Swedes, Americans, Spanish, Russians) choosing 8 characteristics out of 48. Compare your lists with your partner’s. Comment on the lists you produced and justify your choice by giving facts and examples. Прочитайте текст (scanning), обращая внимание на противоречия в трактовке проблемы. На этом этапе ничего не пишите. 2. Образуйте пары и обсудите проблему с партнёром. Пусть один из вас приводит аргументы в защиту проблемы, тогда как другой приводит аргументы «против». Вы должны подкреплять свои аргументы идеями из текста. 3.
