UNIT 12. TO BE (PAST SIMPLE).



Exercise 1. Put in am is/are (present) or was/were (past).


  1. Last year she was 22, so she is 23 now.

  2. Today he weather……nice, but yesterday it was very cold.

  3. I am hungry. Can I have something to eat?

  4. I feel fine this morning but I …… very tired last night.

ITEM 13.1 PAST SIMPLE (POSITIVE SENTENCES).



Exercise 1. Complete the sentences. Use one of these verbs in the past simple:

Exercise 3. Read about Lisa's journey to Madrid. Put the verbs in the correct form.

Exercise 6. Read what Sharon says about a typical working day:
I usually get up at 7 o'clock and have a big breakfast. I walk to work, which takes me about half an hour. I start work at 8.45. I never have lunch. I finish work at 5 o'clock. I'm always tired when I get home. I usually cook a meal in the evening. I don't usually go out. I go to bed at about 11 o'clock. I always sleep well.
Yesterday was a typical working day for Sharon. Write what she did or didn't do yesterday.

Exercise 1. Complete these sentences with the verb in the negative.
