    Political system of the USA

    The USA is a federal republic. It consists of fifty states. Each state has its own government, its own governor, its own laws and its own police. The present constitution was proclaimed in 1787 in Philadelphia. There are three branches in the political system of the USA: executive, legislative and judicial. The President is the head of executive power. The first president was G. Washington. He is the head of the whole country and government, and the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces. The president makes the most important decisions and chooses the ministers, the members of cabinet. But the president can't do just what he wants. Congress must agree first. Americans choose a new president every four years. The resident of the president is the famous White House in Washington.

    Legislative power is represented by Congress. The Capitol in Washington is the seat of USA Congress. Congress is made up of two chambers: Senate and the House of Representatives. Today the House of Representatives has 435 members. Elections to the House take place every two years. There are 100 senators in the Senate (two from each state). They are elected for a period of six years. Judicial power is represented by the Supreme Court and other federal courts. They explain the meaning of laws. The main political parties in the USA are the Democratic Party and the Republican Party. The Democratic Party is in office now.

    США - федеративная республика. Он состоит из пятидесяти штатов. В каждом штате есть свое правительство, свой губернатор, свои законы и своя полиция. Нынешняя конституция была провозглашена в 1787 году в Филадельфии. В политической системе США есть три ветви власти: исполнительная, законодательная и судебная. Президент является главой исполнительной власти. Первым президентом был Г. Вашингтон. Он являлся главой всей страны и правительства, а так же Главнокомандующим Вооруженными силами . Президент принимает самые важные решения и выбирает министров, членов кабинета министров. Но президент не может делать только то, что он хочет. Конгресс должен сначала согласиться. Американцы выбирают нового президента каждые четыре года. Резиденцией президента является знаменитый Белый дом в Вашингтоне.

    Законодательная власть представлена Конгрессом. Капитолий в Вашингтоне является резиденцией Конгресса США. Конгресс состоит из двух палат: Сената и Палаты представителей. Сегодня в Палате представителей насчитывается 435 членов. Выборы в Палату представителей проводятся каждые два года. В Сенате насчитывается 100 сенаторов (по два от каждого штата). Они избираются сроком на шесть лет. Судебная власть представлена Верховным судом и другими федеральными судами. Они объясняют значение законов. Основными политическими партиями в США являются Демократическая партия и Республиканская партия. Демократическая партия сейчас находится у власти.
