    Reported speech (косвенная речь) передает точное содержание чьего-то высказывания, но не точные слова.

    1. Утвердительные предложения


    Утверждения переводятся в косвенную речь следующим образом:

    say/says/said that + сказуемое
    а) если глагол, вводящий косвенную речь употребляется в present simple, то в придаточном изъяснительном предложении форма грамматического времени не меняется: Mum says: “I have lost my keys”. - Mum says that she has lost her keys. b) если глагол, вводящий косвенную речь употребляется в past simple, то в придаточном изъяснительном предложении форма грамматического времени меняется следующим образом: Mum said: “I have lost my keys”. - Mum said that she had lost her keys.

    Say –Tell

    • Say – при отсутствии личного дополнения
    • Jack said that he felt tired.

    • Say + to – дополнение, обозначающее адресата
    • Jack said to us that he felt tired.

    • Tell + косвенное дополнение (кому)
    • Jack told us that he felt tired.

    2. вопросительные предложения

    • Общие или прямые вопросы (требуют ответа да/нет) – в косвенную речь передаются при помощи слова if/whether (ли)

    • ask(ed)/want(ed)/would like to know if + сказуемое

      She asked him, “Have you seen Laura today?” – She asked if I had seen Laura that day.

      b) Специальные (начинаются со специальных слов – when, why, where, how, how much, how many)

      ask(ed)/want(ed)/would like to know + спец.слово

      + сказуемое

      The customer asked, “How much is this?” – The customer asked how much that was.

    приказы, просьбы, распоряжения, предложения, указания передаются в косвенной речи при помощи глаголов order (приказывать), tell , advise (советовать), ask (просить), suggest (предлагать) и т.д.
