Семь колодцев Крымская легенда Давным-давно, в крымской деревне были проблемы с водой. Поэтому, люди выкопали семь колодцев, чтобы добыть немного воды местным жителям. Однажды, главой деревни был избран немец. Он был мудр, и он предложил людям брать воду бесплатно, и каждый был рад возможности брать столько воды, сколько ему нужно. У него было семь сыновей. Самый младший, Фриц, был в семье самым крепким и сильным. В детстве он заметил, что, когда из колодца берут воду, часть её расплескивается по земле. Это не нравилось ему, и он сказал однажды отцу: «Когда я вырасту, я потребую у жителей деревни платить за воду из колодцев. Слишком много её они проливают впустую.». «О нет!» воскликнул отец, «Вода – самая ценная вещь на этой земле, она должна быть бесплатна» Прошло несколько лет. Старый немец умер. Затем от неведомой болезни умерли один за другим шесть его сыновей, и Фрица сделали главой деревни. Сразу же он исполнил свое желание. Он сказал деревенским, что с этого дня они должны платить за воду из колодцев. Все колодцы были закрыты на замки, и ключи от них остались у Фрица. Однажды жители деревни решили восстать против Фрица, потому что он сказал им, что в течении одного дня воды у них не будет. Старый солдат пришел в деревню. Он был истощен и страдал от жажды, и попросил немного чистой воды. Фриц напиться ему не дал, так как у солдата не было на это денег. Солдат умолял Фрица помочь ему, но все было впустую. Умирая, солдат проклял Фрица. После его смерти один из колодцев был открыт, но вода в нем пропала. Когда слуги Фрица открыли другие шесть колодцев и не нашли там воды, он рассказали об этом своему хозяину. Фриц был в ярости. Так он был наказан за свою жестокость. EXERCISES: 1. He locked them. 7) Why couldn’t the old soldier drink any water from the well? He had no money to pay for it. 8) What happened to the wells after the soldier’s death? they dried up. 3. Describe the character of: a) the German b) Fritz Use these adjectives: angry, wise, sly, arrogant, kind-hearted, selfish, cruel. the German – wise, kind-hearted man Fritz – arrogant, selfish, cruel man. 4. Make sentences about your family and school. What does your Mom/Dad/sister/brother/Granny make you do and let you do at home? My Mom made me do errands for her, and let me keep change for myself My English teacher made me do homework and let me submit it till 3 p.m. 5. Retell the story as if you are one of the village dwellers. Speak about your attitude to Fritz. There was always quite arid around our village, and that great lads that dug wells in past was a big help for us. Old German that guided us knew that water is priceless if you wanna live in such place and grow crops, and did not take any charge for using them. Unlike his good-for-nothing youngest son, who somehow made his way to the role of head of the village. I didn’t vote for him anyway. How can anyone even make you pay for a vital resource that everyone needs? Fritz didn’t even let that poor soldier drink for free, when he was on the verge of death. And now God’s curse fell upon us, and all of it because of his arrogancy. 6. Round Table Discussion 1) Where in the world are there great problems with water? Show these places on the map. Pretty much everywhere because of water pollution. Its not only dry regions like deserts. 2) How can people solve these problems? By mass building of water purification and desalination plants, and by not letting the bourgeois class make excessive profit from this. |
