“The Portrait of Dorian Gray" as a Masterpiece of Oscar Wilde. PLAN 1) Introductory part 2) History of creation 3) Genre, theme 4) Retelling 5) Conclusion Oscar Wilde's novel The Portrait of Dorian Gray is a masterpiece of English literature, published in 1890. The publication of the novel caused a scandal in society, and criticism from the political elite fell upon it. The works were considered immoral, nevertheless, readers received the novel well. The genre of the work is a philosophical novel, and the direction of the work is modernism. Themes of external and internal beauty, the true meaning of life, are developed in the work. Besides these themes, the novel also raises the problems of love, human vices and old age. The main idea of the novel is that human vices and an ugly soul cannot be hidden under a beautiful appearance. The main characters of the work are Dorian Gray, Lord Henry, artist Basil, Sybil and James Wayne. At the beginning of the novel, the reader meets Dorian Gray, a young, very handsome man, whose portrait Basil painted. Dorian meets Lord Henry. Seeing the portrait, he admitted that he would like the portrait to grow old, and he always remained beautiful. Dorian Gray's wish came true and the man rushes into a maelstrom of vice. Over the years, the hero remains young, and his portrait takes on all his sins and crimes, becoming ugly. He destroys the lovely girl Sibylla Wayne, breaking her heart and kills his loyal friend Basil, who was very attached to the young man. And in the finale, the distraught Dorian plunges a knife into the portrait, wanting to end the past and find peace, but this is how he finds only his own death. Thus, Oscar Wild wrote a deeply moral book in which art itself avenges vicious beauty and devoted love. Основная мысль романа – человеческие пороки и уродливую душу не спрячешь под красивой внешностью. Главные герои произведения – Дориан Грей, Лорд Генри, художник Бэзил, Сибила и Джеймс Вэйн. В начале романа читатель знакомится с Дорианом Греем, молодым, очень красивым человеком, с которого художник Бэзил писал портрет. Дориан знакомится с Лордом Генри. Увидев портрет, он признался, что очень хотел бы, чтобы старел портрет, а он всегда оставался красивым. Желание Дориана Грея исполнилось и мужчина бросается в омут порока. На протяжении многих лет герой остается молодым, а его портрет принимает на себя все его грехи и преступления, становясь отталкивающим. Он губит прелестную девушку Сибиллу Вейн, разбив ей сердце и убивает своего преданного друга Бэзила, который был очень привязан к юноше и любил его. И в финале обезумевший Дориан вонзает нож в изображение, желая покончить с прошлым и обрести покой, но так он находит лишь свою смерть. To my mind, all this is due to my parents. In our family, everyone cares about each other, respects and loves each other. At home, I can always talk about my problems, get advice from close people. It is here that I feel safe and comfortable. My home is a place where I can completely relax and allow myself to be real, where I can give free rein to my feelings and emotions and not be afraid of being convicted by anyone. In addition, I have my own room at home where I can study or relax on my soft bed, watch movies or read. It's cozy here, here I can be alone with myself, hide from problems. Thus, my home is the best place in the world, and my dearest people live here. I know for sure that I am always waited and loved here and I get the warmest emotions. |
