    Direct and Indirect speech

    Прямая речь


    Прямая речь – это чьи-либо точно цитируемые слова. Прямая речь заключается в кавычки.
    Pete says, “Mary likes playing tennis”.

    Косвенная речь


    Косвенная речь передает точное значение, но не точные слова.
    Pete says that Mary likes playing tennis.

    Reported statements


    Высказывания в прямой и косвенной речи.
    После слов автора ставится запятая.
    Кавычки ставятся в верхнем ряду.
    Местоимения меняются
    соответственно значению.
    4. Косвенная речь вводится союзом that

    Глагол в главном предложении в Present Simple
