    Был один досадный момент, когда я окунулся в темную воду и грязь забила мне глаза, уши и рот, однако я почувствовал, как тело ужа отчаянно бьется в моей крепко стиснутой руке, и ликовал от радости. Еле переводя дух и отплевываясь, весь покрытый тиной, я сел посреди канала и крепко ухватил ужа за шею, пока он не успел опомниться и укусить меня.
